1. Learn about your illness
2. Request information as to the specifics of the procedure

  • The procedure and steps you will undergo
  • The sights and sounds you will experience
  • The amount of pain you can expect
  • The methods used to control the pain
  • The amount of time it will take to recover

3. Use psychological methods to relax a few days before the surgery
4. Coordinate with anesthesiologist the use of head phones and music.
